Polish Paper Star Ornament ONLINE Workshop

$25.00

Thursday, December 11, 6-8pm CST, join folk artist Sam Wróbel for an ONLINE workshop and learn to make Polish paper star ornaments, also known as jeżyki (hedgehogs). These fun ornaments will make quite an impact on a tree or even hung from a window or anywhere, and they make lovely holiday gifts as well. Sam Wróbel is a folk artist of Polish descent specializing in the Polish folk art of papercutting known as wycinanki. Making jeżyki is another wonderful paper-based tradition from the country of Poland. This workshop is perfect for complete beginners, or those who have made these in the past but need a refresher.

This is a live class, so you can make these along with Sam and ask him questions as we go. The class will be recorded and sent to paid participants, and available for three months after the workshop date.

Zoom link will be sent out after purchase.

Supply List:

  • Colored paper (Origami, wrapping paper, metallic paper works well as long as it is thin enough to roll. No cardstock or anything that thick. Feel free to email me at sparrowpapercraft @ gmail.com before the class if you have paper questions!) Can be a single color or a mix. Patterns are fine but larger patterns won’t be particularly visible on the ornament.

  • Compass for tracing circles, or a can/round object around 3.5-4” in diameter to trace. I have a large 3.5” circle paper punch I use, but I’ve noticed they are hard to find nowadays.

  • Gluestick, white glue, or Mod Podge. You may also want a small brush or toothpick to spread glue/Mod Podge over a small surface area.

  • Scissors

  • Pencil (sharpened to a point)

  • Needle - can be metal or plastic, as long as it is big enough for your thread.

  • String or heavy thread. I like to use metallic thread cord, but embroidery thread also works well. Nothing stretchy or too thick.

  • 2 small sequins, beads, or buttons.
